2021 Laoise Vineyard - Chardonnay
Los Carneros, Napa Valley
Laoise, pronounced lee-sha, is an Irish girl's name meaning, "the radiant one."
Our Laoise Vineyard is a small block of Chardonnay planted on a southeast facing hill in the northern rolling hills of Carneros, on the southwest bench of Napa Valley. Here, the cool nights and days allow for the perfectly balanced ripening of Chardonnay grapes, with wholesome notes of apple cider, and mellow flavors of peach juice and pineapple on the finish. We whole-cluster press these grapes to tank for settling, then allow a spontaneous fermentation to develop in neutral French oak barrels, in which the wines will also age for fifteen months. Lightly filtered solely for clarity prior to bottling, by hand, at the winery. This medium bodied but saucy Chardonnay is drinking well upon release and will age gracefully for up to five years in the cellar.
