2021 Rowan Vineyard - Syrah

Rowan Vineyard occupies a hillside on the northern edge of the Petaluma Gap AVA. Here, on a steep, south-facing, rolling hillside Syrah is harvested from a 1.5-acre block with the steepest slopes facing south and southwest in mid-October. The soil here has a higher percentage of limestone than usual for this area. Its cool climate is influenced by the gap in the mountains west of Petaluma that gives the AVA its name. Farming is conventional.
